Basri Marzuki, was born in Maros, South Sulawesi and now lives in Palu, Central Sulawesi, Indonesia. Started working in the world of photography since 1998 as a hobbyist by self-taught. His interest in photojournalism began when he worked for a local newspaper in Palu, Central Sulawesi in 2001 and continues to expand his photography horizons by becoming a wire in the official domestic news agency and a number of foreign photo agencies. He witnessed the history of a number of events of social conflict, riots, politics, crime, sports and photos with religious nuances. He also works on various photo story projects for documentary purposes for profit-oriented and non-profit organizations. In 2007, Amsterdam-based World Press Photo (WPP) facilitated it with a scholarship through the Panna Photo Institute to learn more about photojournalism. Several of photographic works have been produced and published in a number of media, both national and international, including winning the best photo award at the Global Change photo competition in Japan and winning a number of photo competitions held domestically. In the international arena, the World Bank listed his name as one of the photo contributors for the preparation of the report on the implementation of Cash Direct Assistance (BLT) carried out by the Government of Indonesia after the reform. Several of photo exhibitions have been followed, both domestically and domestically. A number of photo book publications are often decorated with his photographic works. At the 2018 Asian Games in Jakarta, he was trusted as a member of the official photographer team. He is also involved and active in a number of professional photo institutions both at the local and national level. Previously served as Secretary of the Alliance of Independent Journalists (AJI) Palu and Chair of the Indonesian Photojournalist (PFI) Palu from 2008 to 2017. In 2019 and 2021, he received a fellowship to take photos of stories about warding off tsunami waves and coastal abrasion with mangroves in collaboration with Social of Indonesian Environmental Journalism (SIEJ). He often becomes a mentor for various student-level journalism trainings and the photo community. Also a team of judges in various regional photo competition events.
